  Overall, the hotel was a good visit and one to where we’d gladly return, although the two members of staff need to be retrained as to what they should be doing, and how to be courteous and polite. We wouldn’t, however, say it is a 4 star hotel.

  Bien situado aunque con aparcamiento fatal. El restaurante es muy bueno. Cocinan de maravilla aunque me pareció algo caro para un pueblo tan pequeño. Luego me enteré de q también tenían menú que era más económico pero el camarero no nos lo ofreció. El spa no lo conozco. El pueblo es pintoresco con las caras de la gente en las fachadas. Poco o nada adaptado para movilidad reducida, por desgracia. Está muy en cuesta excepto una calle que aún así es muy irregular.

  There were no towels available at the spa either, so we had to go back to our rooms dripping water from our wet swimming costumes.

  We stayed here for a weekend break in March. The hotel is easy to find but has very limited parking on the street outside. There are, however, two public carparks within 50m which are free.

  Later we had dinner in the hotel restaurant where the service was polite, prompt and professional, and the food delicious, although quite pricey.

  The entrance to the hotel is a bit off-putting if you are a non-smoker, as either side of the main door are ashtrays and litter bins full of dirty cigarettes and rubbish. The reception area is reached by a narrow corridor with beautiful carvings on the ceilings. Once again, we had to walk through a cloud of smoke as an elderly resident was smoking in this enclosed space.

  Booking in was easy and efficient and we were quickly in the lift, the floor of which was flooded with water from residents leaving the spa before drying off. Our room was spacious and comfortable enough. My only complaint is the bathroom. The shower was hot and powerful enough (actually better than the spa facilities), but the glass partition was not long enough, resulting in water bouncing off and directly onto the floor, leaving the bathroom floor flooded each time we showered. Also, when you switched off the water the shower head promptly fell into the bath with a heavy crash. Fortunately, it never landed on our toes or head as it was made of brass or similar and could have caused injury. One other problem with the bathroom is the lack of toilet brush. Also, if you have long hair take your own hairdryer as the one they have is useless.

  This same receptionist was present when we arrived in the restaurant for our first breakfast. She took our room number and left us without explaining how breakfast ‘functioned’. As it was our first breakfast at the hotel we assumed that the limited food available in the buffet was all there was to eat (typical Spanish fayre: mostly bread, cheeses and meats), some fruit too. So we reluctantly had our fill only to see another couple arrive and order scrambled eggs from the same lady! We weren’t aware that any hot food was available to order. We subsequently ordered the eggs with bacon. Why no explanation of what was available to us? Our order was taken with a frown, some huffing and puffing for then inconvenience.

  Card keys are issued for the bedrooms and the first time we returned to our room it failed to function. On returning to reception and explaining our problem, the receptionist nodded, took the card and reprogrammed it and returned it to us without a single word, and certainly not with any explanation or apology for our inconvenience.

  That evening we attended the darkened spa area to be greeted by another member of staff. Again, she confirmed our booking and left us to it. She gave no instructions or explanations regarding the spa area. She said nothing about showering before and between various aspects of the spa, and as expected, other residents failed to shower at all before entering the pool, even after exiting the sauna! My wife and I had to explore the spa to see what was available and what was what, there was no information available re the massage services etc. The lady sat back down and returned to her phone. It wasn’t just us, we watched numerous people come in and she spent all of ten seconds with each before returning to her smartphone. She showed no interest at all in her job, the residents or its hygiene.
